The headline for me is that it'll really depend on the reviews and word of mouth once it starts performing.

I suppose they, like most major productions at a major theater, presumably have the eye on broadway... and their hopes... but the reality is that very few KC productions do end up going to Broadway, and few of them end up being successful for whatever reason. Spamalot revival, Side Show revival, Follies revival, Ragtime revival. In fact, they weren't even all critical darlings which would be one of the first reasons you'd move it. I'm very glad they did these shows, regardless of what I thought of each. But they were all more worthy candidates as material, in my opinion. But that being said I'd love to see a great production of BBB. I've never seen one. Only the movie with its half wonderfulness and half insane changes, and mediocre to bad productions (and did not like the TV movie).

There's no realistic reason, with this cast and director and this show, that they should assume this will be one of the few KC productions that makes the move. But we'll see how the reviews are.

But maybe I'm wrong, and there's a need and nostalgia for a quality revival of Bye Bye Birdie. Again, I would love to see an excellent revival of it... but you'd have a very hard time getting me to pay more than $75 to see without legends in it.

Though I might have said the same about Spamalot. Ha.
