I saw it twice--40 years apart. The second performance ever at the WPA with Lee Wilkof and Ellen Greene was amazing. I was expecting camp, but I got a great rcck musical.
In 2022, with Conrad Ricamora it was not bad at all, but the orchestra was too loud, I couldn't understand Ashman's lyrics, which are just great.
I wonder how I would have reacted to Groff, who I like a lot, but I can't picture him as a nebbish. |
