1. Opening night of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE (and if I could use one of those MiB memory erasers, I'd erase everything we subsequently experienced of Brando so that I could just experience him as a virgin);
2. Opening night of PRIVATE LIVES to experience Coward, Lawrence, Olivier and Esmond at the beginning of their careers;
3. Any performance of JUMBO to see what that kind of crazy spectacle was like.
(Sorry, I'm going to choose a fourth: Maggie Smith as Rosalind in AS YOU LIKE IT at the Stratford Festival in Canada, which many say was the best of the dozen or so roles so she played there from 1976-1980.) |
