There has always been crap. Look at the 1969-70 season. Along with Applause we got Jimmy, LaStrada,, Buck White (featuring Muhammad Ali!), Georgy, Gantry ( both from much better films), Blood Red Roses,Look to the Lillies, and Sambo (!). Yes, it was the season that brought us Company but there was plenty of dross, as well.
