I don't know if I would equate box office failure with worthiness or quality. Here Lies Love did very badly at the box office, but I think there are a lot of reasons for that that have nothing to do with is quality. I think the subject matter was uninteresting to many people, I think there are many Broadway theatergoers for whom standing for the whole show is not possible or not of interest, and I'm not sure if having Lea Salonga in the show for 4.5 weeks was a good or a bad idea in the end as far as box office -- it made some theatergoers (like me) wait until she was going to be in the show, she was in it for a such a short period of time, and then afterwards it felt like you missed something because she was no longer in the show.

I probably shouldn't have included Back to the Future in the negative column. I think you're right that its reception has been more mixed than negative.
