Yes Ashford was a bit too cloying in By the Sea but Foster goes way beyond that.
I felt Ashford despite some of the antics mentioned below had an unforced comic way about her. Foster doesn't. The spitting and shooting things out her nose grossed me out.
I also felt Ashford created a tender relationship with Toby. She stood there and looked genuinely sad that she had to lock him in the bake house. Foster didn't seem to care about him much at all and just ran to get Sweeney. |
