Having now seen everything eligible in the musical categories this year (plus Stereophonic and Illinoise in their pre-Broadway outings), I would say the frontrunner for score is Stereophonic and musical is Illinoise. My favorite score was Days of Wine and Roses, but I know the score didn't go down easy for everyone and the show will have been closed for months by Tony time. For such a bounty of new musicals this season, it's disappointing that almost all of them are deeply mediocre. I think Back to the Future (which I enjoyed more than I expected!) is by far the front-runner of the traditional book musicals to take top prize. But since voters have tended towards smaller "indie" musicals in recent seasons, I think the prize belongs to Illinoise and Stereophonic has a lock on score of running shows.

Just my early input pre-nominations! This might all be very wrong in the end.
