| Most of the people I know in the US who are here with some renewable immigration status have a story like this to tell, though they don't talk about it much. Long unexplained delays, unable to work for weeks or months, each time the rising threat of deportation to a place they haven't lived in decades unless they can navigate an opaque web of bureaucracy that makes the scheme Hades hatches with the Fates look like a walk in the park. |
