I was disappointed when I saw it, having looked forward to a crackling entertainment. It just wasn't that funny to me, and seemed a throwback, without the extra layer of smarts that I'd somehow expected to be its reason for being so celebrated. Lady Bunny has done similar selfish and mean comedy for eons that has been sharper, and sometimes even with a point. I guess there may be a point about our ability and desire to seek escape and pizazz in the context of pure horror everywhere around us (when we look).

I'm happy for Oh, Mary's success. I imagine that many are grateful for an old-school camp entertainment as a tonic in these times. I totally get it. I was looking forward to just that. It just didn't tickle me and soar for me. Fell a little flat. Seemed that most other people in the theater were roaring with laughter, though.
