I admired the score, staging and especially the performers, but ultimately, for me, the show was all exposition with little opportunity for emotional engagement. It felt like a series of droll newspaper articles come to life. I know I’m in the minority.
After a week of theatergoing, l especially enjoyed Oh, Mary, Illinoise and Days of Wine and Roses and An Enemy of the People.
There’s lots of good work out there this season, for which I’m grateful. |
