I'm curious: Do you know which Toby understudy you saw? If it was Felix Torrez-Ponce, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree because I thought he did a perfectly fine job in the role.

I'm glad Groban's voice has been preserved in the cast recording. I've been listening to the various Sweeney albums in a loop over the last several weeks and Groban's Sweeney is, IMHO, the most beautifully -- but not prettily, since all know that "pretty isn't beautiful" -- sung, bar none. And without sacrificing the acting. In "The Judge's Return," when he sings "There! Primping, making herself even prettier than usual...if possible," his voice is both ravishing and creepy.

In terms of Tobys on cast recordings, my favorites are Gaten Matarazzo and Manoel Felciano.
