I arrived in 1963 at 18, soon saw Tovarich, Jennie, A Funny Thing, Hello Dolly, Funny Girl, Foxy, High Spirits, Fiddler, Burton's Hamlet, Dylan, Anyone Can Whistle, She Loves Me. I had no money! None! Tix were 6 bucks or sometimes free for students. Randall Jarrell once wrote, "The people who live in a golden age usually go around complaining how yellow everything looks." Me, I had nothing to complain about. But I didn't realize that the banquet wouldn't always be as full.
