According to the Theatricalia website, the Brook/ Scofield Lear played the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center from May 18 to June 6, 1964, as the last stop of an international tour. So technically not Broadway, but close enough. I was sure it played NY because a few years later, my sophomore high school English teacher told us in his class it was hands down the worst Shakespearean production he had ever seen. (He was not a Peter Brook fan, but to his credit, he did take his class to Brook’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream some time later.)
