Just to set the record straight, there are no presumptions on my part in what I posted about the Sondheim lecture I attended in 1999. As best as I can recall, the student asked the question I said he did. Sondheim's response was just as I wrote. Sondheim's remarks about the lack of commercial interest in Evening Primrose as a stage piece are precisely what he stated.
He was pretty adamant in stating that it would be a waste of his valuable time and energy to go back to a project without any strong commercial interest or funding. His words, definitely not mine.
