Greatest theatre year -- ever?

It seems generally agreed that the greatest year for movies was 1939 -- although some argue that 1999 was even greater.

But what about the theatre. I mean the Broadway theatre. Looking at 1956 -- examined in the thread below-- that could be a contender. But maybe earlier when Inge and Williams were represented.

Has anyone considered this in the same way as that consensus about Hollywood and 1939?
