In ''How to Succeed in Business,'' Frank Loesser found another way to rhyme ''company'' in his reprise of ''The Company Way'':

''We know the company may like
Or lump any man.
And if they choose to,
the company may dump any man ....''

As a fan of Loesser, Sondheim must've enjoyed that. I once read that he loved how Loesser set to music the phrase: ''some irresponsibile dress manufacturer'' (in ''Paris Original'').

I've always thought Sondheim sought to top that with ''imperturbable perspicacity'' in ''Anyone Can Whistle.'' Also, ''extraterritoriality'' (from ''Please Hello'') in ''Pacific Overtures.''
