When did they stop putting understudy signs up in the lobby?

I thought it was an equity rule you had to do two things of three. Paper, signs or the old fashioned announcement. Is this a covid thing? I was a bit annoyed to find out two weeks ago that Victoria Clark was out of Kimberly Akimbo. I hadn't read the slip and only noticed it when someone else mentioned it.

And since I'm airing complaints aren't theaters darker? I used to be able to read my Playbill without shining a phone light on it. I s my vision going or are the lights dimmer? (noticed this in movie theaters too.)
