If Here Lies Love were running today at a venue like Circle in the Square with the same cast it had at the Public, the show, Miles, and Ricamora would have received Tony noms, and Here Lies Love would have been the favorite to win Best Musical. It would then have been on track to recoup and become a commercial success. That is my definition of good producing. It's a tragedy that the production team was influenced by some sort of agenda and made (IMO and that of others here on ATC) a number of poor business decisions.
Basically, though, I do agree with what you are stating in your post. |
