| I saw it with Christian Borle, Tammy Blanchard and Conrad Ricamora. Borle obviously decided the show was about a dentist and went out of his way to make everybody break character and showed complete disrespect for the script, score, and fellow actors. Tammy Blanchard played Audrey like Judy Garland at rock bottom and it was hard to believe anyone would fall in love with her. Conrad Ricamore did his best to keep it together, I saw the original production and this production is no comparison. Sometimes I think directors and actors are so determined to do a different take than the original (cue Annaleigh Ashford and Sutton Foster) that they forget to trust the material. | |
