Well, the Nominating Committee really didn't go for closed shows. Kudos to those who predicted that no closed show would be nominated for Best Musical. And there are very few acting nominations for closed shows. This is very different than last year, where 10 or 11 actors from closed shows were nominated in the play categories.

They really didn't go for Illinoise, with only 4 nominations and none in the acting categories. I am shocked that Ricky Ubeda did not get nominated. After the underwhelming nomination haul for Illinoise and for Sidney Brustein last year, I wonder if there will be fewer rushes to meet the deadline in the future.

Cabaret got nominated in all 4 acting categories. Stereophonic has 5 acting nominations. Hell's Kitchen has 4. Merrily, Doubt, The Outsiders, and Mother Play have 3.

Of currently running shows, Heart of Rock and Roll and The Wiz got shut out. Great Gatsby, Tommy, Patriots, and Uncle Vanya only got 1 nomination each.

I would have thought Francis Benhamou from French Republic would have been nominated. I don't know if I have ever found a basically harmless character to be so relentlessly annoying before.

I'm surprised Will Keen wasn't nominated for Patriots.
