| Why seven nominations in some categories? |

| I was struck by the fact that there are at least two categories (scenic design and featured actress in a musical) that have seven nominations. I don't remember ever seeing that many in a category before, and the predictions this year didn't seem to anticipate this. Why more than usual? I'm guessing it has something to do with the number of new musicals plus revivals being higher than usual and allowing more nominations, but in that case why aren't there seven in more of the musical categories? |
