"...the Drama Desk nominators have a history of being snobs about Broadway shows..."

I mean, I guess you could say that. Or you could say that they try hard to make sure their nominees span both Broadway and Off Broadway (and not just the big Off Broadway hits, but the smaller ones many people didn't get to see, like Lizard Boy), since that is the entire point of the awards - they are the only ones that include both Broadway and Off Bway in the same categories. "Snobs" is a very loaded term, and especially in a year where I think everyone agrees that most of the Broadway musicals were fairly mediocre (people have the ones they like and don't like but almost nothing got across the board raves), and several Off Broadway ones were pretty widely praised, to say that the Drama Desk nominators are being "snobs" in choosing Dead Outlaw over Back to the Future or whatever else is just...silly.

In its nearly 50-year history of this category, only 2 Off-Broadway shows have ever won Best Musical: ''Little Shop of Horrors'' and ''Hamilton.''

This is false. Kimberly Akimbo won in 2022 (for its run at the Atlantic), beating out Six. I haven't gone back further to check other years, but it does happen.
