Rare. The last time was 2013 with Bring It On and A Christmas Story. Before that is was 1996 with Chronicle of a Death Foretold and Swinging on a Star.
1 closed musical nominated is only a little less rare. It's happened 5 times in the last 30 years:
The Scottsboro Boys in 2011
Amour in 2003
Side Show in 1998
Juan Darien in 1997
