Commercial hit relative to all the other musicals this season, yes. But less than a year into its run the grosses have mostly been hovering around the break-even point, it's regularly available on TDF, and is always available on TKTS. Not great long-term indicators for a very expensive show though it seems likely to do well on tour.
But this Tony season is still so up in the air, I could see it getting 7 or 8 nominations including Best Musical or just 2 or 3 in tech categories. |
