| My god, I can't believe I forgot BOTH Isao Sato and Mako. One of my favorite musicals and casts. But yes, back to "it's not all that much better"... and even that the last nominated Asian men in a musical were from 49 years ago. And my god... Phillips and Wantanabe... lordy ... I apologize to everyone here for quickly going off of a very incomplete wiki page I was reading. I really try not to put much into actually winning vs being nominated, there is SO much that goes into who wins besides the race of the actor, and very much besides the performance and/or the role itself... so I was focused on nominations. And I'd say that normally Ricomara being in a closed show would kill his chances as a Featured Actor especially, but I think because he's in a show in a year where none of the other musicals are very good or getting raves, his chances are better this year for a closed show than in most other years. But I'm just thinking outloud, I have no real insight. So far, if it were me, I'd vote for him. But i have not yet seen all the shows, let alone the nominated ones (which haven't even come out yet). Still mourning the lack of nomination for Jon Jon Briones. |
