| Not because it got raves from critics (it got, at best "hey, it's pretty goodish, and has a great message!" reviews, with a lot of "pretty empty as a play, not very good as a musical, but sure it's fine, and hey it has a good message!" reviews)... but I still think it's going to win. Illinoise will win Book. Stereophonic will win Score, and if not that then The Outsiders will, and if not that then Wine & Roses. I personally don't think Back to the Future has a single chance to win Best Musical. And Justin Peck might win Director, if not him I shudder to say Maria Friedman will, but look out for a surprise win from Michael Greif and Schele Williams for The Notebook, it is a chance to give 2 people Tonys after all. Outside chance of Danya Taymor for The Outsiders. Or maybe Rebecca Fracknall for this Cabaret. |
