| It's interesting to see some more critical appraisals of her hosting skills on here. In the past when I'd noted how... grating I found her on the Tonys and other awards shows...and even on talk show appearances, I was met with what seemed like universal opposition. And I say this as someone who thought she was SENSATIONAL in West Side Story and 100% deserved her Oscar. But, as a host, she's so... overeager and charmless. Boy do I miss NPH. No one has matched his deft balancing of act of being both a Broadway insider with legitimate stage talent AND having enough outsider perspective to add the right touch of distance and snark that the most entertaining hosts maintain. At this point, I think I prefer Corden as a host over Ariana and I'm shocked to say that given how little I care for that smarmy man. Anyway, maybe Oh, Mary will transfer next season, Cole will become the toast of Broadway and he and Amy Sedaris will co-host. |
