Let me say that Purlie Victorious makes an excellent case for an ensemble award since the whole cast was brilliant. If we can’t have that, please remember Billy Eugene Jones who shines in an incredibly difficult role. He must portray a subservient cliched “old south” stereotype which he does beautifully. He never winks to the audience to convey he’s just play acting but managed to reveal what goes into living life on a tightrope. As for Michael Greif, “Wine and Roses” is excellent but he loses some points for the dreadful Notebook.
