| The best musical of the year will not win a Tony. It is American Dance Machine currently at the Joyce thru 01/03/16. The evening consists of re-staged dance numbers from musicals (most of them Tony winners) of the past. This is an evening difficult to describe...so much fabulous dancing and singing with great numbers from great shows. I was particularly knocked out by the Michael Bennett restoration of "Promises, Promises". All this plus two thrilling numbers from "A Chorus Line" restaged by Donna McKechnie. Orchestra is live. Singing and dancing are tops. Staging is Grade A. Afterward I said "There was so much wonderful dancing I'm exhausted". |
