Wouldn't the previous visited/unvisited links color choices have worked with the new design?
And those colors transferred over?

I haven't seen blue/purple used for links in quite some time. :-)

And the old links

They were red to blue. But the rest of the site has always been default. It may turn out that we will go with red to blue - we wanted to get input first, since the other colors were from 1997.

It has nothing to do with any decisions we made, but when I go to Google I see (a shade of) blue and purple.

I think the difference is in the font - the non-bold font on Google is much easier on the eye, IMO. I'm ok with the colors, though if many others are not, I'm sure I'll be ok with whatever you decide to change them to. ;-)

I really wasn't comparing our links to Google - just replying to the comment:

I don't notice the blue and purple of the Google search engine result links. Their font is also different. I am not a typographer or whatever, but their font is so much easier on the eyes.

The fact that a website would leave the visited/unvisited links at defaults of blue/purple is very odd.

The web browsers I use default to blue (unvisited) and purple (visited), but generally website designers override the colors.

I am guessing most users are accustomed to the website designer overriding the web browser's default settings by choosing colors that are more compatible with the rest of the website.

I can change the link colors in Firefox and Opera but not in Chrome (I don't see where to do that).

All I'm saying is Google uses blue and purple. At least that's all I see.

We didn't like the link colors the designers chose (fine for the content pages, but not for ATC).

And, even though we thought maybe link colors could be updated after almost 18 years, we didn't want to make a decision for thousands of highly opinionated people. So we're getting feedback. For people who can't wait a week, at least some have an option.

(And I think there's an extension for link color changes in Chrome.)

"highly opinionated people" Why Ann, wherever would you get a notion like that? Thanks for always keeping your yule cool.

I guess I am just very surprised that the designers chose to leave the links at default colors, because that is what they look like to me.
