AS IT NEARS THE END OF ITS LIMITED RUN

SYLVIA, the acclaimed comedy by two-time Pulitzer Prize-nominee A.R. Gurney (The Dining Room, Love Letters), nears the end of its limited Broadway engagement proudly having done much for local animals and those who love them over the course of its 14-week run. Directed by Tony Award-winner Daniel Sullivan (Proof), SYLVIA plays The Cort Theatre (138 W. 48th Street) through Sunday, January 3, 2016.

A funny and heartwarming tale about how rescuing an animal changes your life, ultimately for the better, SYLVIA’s animal outreach and advocacy has included everything from extending invitations to officers of the New York City Police Department Canine Units to hosting special evenings for – and with a portion of tickets sales going to benefit -- non-profits such as Angel on a Leash, Bideawee, The Good Dog Foundation, and PACT For Animals; sponsorship of other animal advocacy organizations such as Broadway Barks; and giveaways of pet-friendly products from Bow Wow Meow Café and Petsmile, among others.

SYLVIA stars two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick (Brighton Beach Memoirs, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), Tony Award-winner Julie White (The Little Dog Laughed), Drama Desk Award-winner Robert Sella (Stuff Happens), and 2015 Tony Award-winner Annaleigh Ashford (You Can’t Take It With You) in the title role.

SYLVIA has scenic design by Tony Award-nominee David Rockwell (You Can’t Take It With You, On the Twentieth Century), costume design by Academy Award-winner Ann Roth (The English Patient), lighting design by Tony Award-nominee Japhy Weideman (The Visit, Airline Highway), sound design by Peter Fitzgerald (All the Way, Movin’ Out), and music by Greg Pliska. SYLVIA has wig and makeup design by Campbell Young Associates. James Fitzsimmons is the Production Stage Manager.

SYLVIA is presented on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, and Daryl Roth, and Brannon Wiles, Jay and Cindy Gutterman/Caiola Productions, Lang Entertainment Group/Big Beach, Louise Gund, Kathleen K. Johnson, Joan Raffe & Jhett Tolentino, Jane Bergé, Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley, Bellanca Smigel Rutter, Deborah Taylor, Barbara Freitag and Jamie DeRoy, Jessica Genick and Will Trice.

SYLVIA began previews on Friday, October 2nd and opened on Tuesday, October 27th. The limited engagement ends on Sunday, January 3, 2016.

The remaining (holiday) schedule is Wednesday, December 23 at 2 pm; Saturday, December 26 at 2 pm and 8 pm; Sunday, December 27 at 2pm; Monday, December 28 at 7 pm; Tuesday, December 29 at 7 pm, Wednesday, December 30 at 2 pm and 7 pm; Friday, January 1 at 8 pm; Saturday, January 2 at 2 pm and 8 pm; and Sunday, January 3 at 2 pm and 7 pm.

A limited number of Rush tickets for SYLVIA are available for purchase in-person at The Cort Theatre box office beginning at 10am Monday - Saturday (12pm on Sundays) for that day's performance(s) only. Rush tickets cost $32 with a maximum of two tickets per person. Rush tickets are subject to availability and may not be offered at all performances. Rush seating locations will be determined at the discretion of the box office.

The running time for SYLVIA is 2 hours with an intermission.
