It seems that he has made some kind of private peace with what some colleagues of mine in mental health activism would call his "neuroqueerness" and seems more articulate and focused. I don't want to do armchair diagnosis (not trained as a diagnostician), but his over-the-top energy always has seemed to me to verge on a kind of "mania." As an actor, his work in recent years on "Homeland" has been as a good as anything currently on TV.

I so admire him for walking away from the creepy Criminal Minds after a season, and boy, did that decision work out well for him.
