R.I.P. Patricia Elliott - Tony winner for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. A superb actress equally at ease in straight plays and musicals. I remember her Lina in MISALLIANCE Off-Broadway with particular pleasure.

I adored Patricia Elliott in Night Music. Although I have seen excellent Charlottes since, none has touched her.

I also have a silly Patricia Elliott anecdote.

I was at the Theatre World Awards. I had forgotten that people dress nicely for them, and had shown up shleppy. In the ladies room, I was saying sheepishly to a friend that I looked terrible. Patricia Elliott happened to be there, and she told me that I looked just fine and that I should just enjoy myself. She was very sweet and made me feel a lot better.

That's a lovely story--makes me wish I'd known her.
