How about "The Happy New Year Blues," an Irving Berlin tune intended for one of his Music Box Revues (but never used at the time) ? This song was introduced to a whole new generation on Varese Sarabande's "A Broadway Christmas" CD. And, of course, there's "New Year's Eve" from "A Doll's Life," with music by Larry Grossman.

And, although it's a metaphor about the sparks of romance, how about the great song "Fireworks" from the Jule Styne/ Comden and Green musical , "Do Re Mi" ?
