Font color and size

Is it just me, but the font color of threads is a royal blue, with read threads in purple. Also, the font is very small. Is it possible to change these colors/size. I am finding them hard to read (and strangely nauseating). Thx.

I agree. The font and color makes the all that chat much more difficult to read. I can't wait to get away from it.

Glad someone said it. The BLUE is irritating my eyes; and I don't like that it goes to BLACK when read. Would prefer BLACK to start and RED when... read.

Agree! What a change for the worse. Font size is paltry to boot.

Set by your browser, as indicated below. Check your preferences. (It's blue and purple on mine, but probably going to change soon.)

The font is also too much bold and not a good choice generally as it is very condensed--the x height is quite low and makes legibility on the web a challenge. Sorry to be negative as I'm sure time and effort were put into this but the apart from the new shell, it's not an improvement. Makes the eyes hurt!!!

The colors are set by your browser

You can make those changes in your browser, if you want, or if we end up tweaking the font style/weight it might make a difference.

The red-unread/blue-read colors we had before were actually the opposite of the norm (because in 1996, that's what they were).

Then it was just serendipity. Because they sure worked great for the end user!

Some browsers let you adjust the colors.

HOWEVER, some of those require an external extension (plug-in) to change the colors. A PITA.

Other web sites have instructions that can override those colors.

Face it. The colors, fonts, and font widths for the site have been set to ugly.

First, in a text editor paste the code:
A:visited { color: LightSalmon ! important }
A:link { color: SteelBlue ! important }
A:hover { color: black ! important }
A:active { color: green ! important }

(or whatever names you like, so long as they match the css list) and then save as some_name_you_choose.css

Then, in Safari, go to Preferences > Advanced > Style Sheet and then Other and browse to your style sheet which you so lovingly crafted in advance.

You can make those changes in your browser, if you want

Thanks for the reminder--I added the "Stylist" extension to Chrome, picked colours I love, and now every site looks 1,000 times better! For the CSS novice, type in (or paste) something like this, choosing colors you love:

A:visited { color: LightSalmon ! important }
A:link { color: SteelBlue ! important }
A:hover { color: black ! important }
A:active { color: green ! important }

Where do you paste this stuff? I cannot figure this out in chrome at all.

I looked up CSS, since you used the term, and the indication is that this involves HTML programming.

If you have to learn to do programming to change the colors.....

Truthfully, I probably spend too much time reading ATC. So I will stop visiting ATC if the blue/dark purple stays the same...and that may be a good thing.

Quoting Ann's post below:

The font type/size/weight is something we may revisited once the kinks are worked out. If it's problematic, please email your opinion to me and I'll keep track of what people say.
