| I don't really want to see another okay production of this show, but I would be thrilled to see a great one. Has anyone here seen it yet? | |

| I was at American Airlines last night and thought the evening something of a mess. The only winner for me was Megan Hilty...I couldn't take my eyes off her...her every movement was hypnotic as well as hilarious. I'm a big Andrea Martin fan but she shouldn't be burdened with a British accent. I noticed that every once in a while she came thru as herself (sans accent). | |

| It is just another OK revival. Slightly better than the last revival (with Patti LuPone and Peter Gallagher), but nowhere near as brilliant as the original. The second act seems to break down in the middle, which it shouldn't. J | |

| Don't you think it's something that can get better, once things start to sync more? I am hopeful. | |

| Maybe. But none of the cast members really match the brilliance of the original cast. J | |

| I wonder how brilliant those (original) cast members were after only one or two preview performances. Also farce being one of the most difficult genres to perform, the staging and direction if already okay should be very good by time of opening. | |

| BWW has quite a few reports. Mostly very favorable, with lots of Megan Hilty love (also Andrea Martin and Jeremy Shamos). Some discussion about the play's shortcomings. Specifically the first act which is inherently is less funny than the two that follow because of the structure. | |

| I've seen just about all of the iterations, including the last London revival with the stellar Lynn Redgrave (twice in the same week yet). That was my favorite, as the British company just found that effortless approximation of an exhausting rehearsal process that is annotated in their own lexicon. It seemed so real, especially the first act, the comedy sprang forth without any push. Therein lies the secret: to not work too hard at the comedy in the first half. When it's hit, it doesn't float, because it's not all that joke-laden. Redgrave wasn't a clown, and her Dottie seemed like a real English actor of a certain age and profile. No work was required to create that world-weariness. That's how the play works, when it begins almost as if we're eavesdropping on this beleaguered company. | |

| If people are having trouble with the first act, watch out! It's the third act that's the problematic one. The first act should be a breeze. | |

| Hm. The first act is hysterical if done well. And you LEAVE the sardines or newspaper or whatever. I haven't seen it in awhile. | |

| I wasn't crazy about the play in the first Broadway version so I'm really only seeing this for the cast. I really like almost everyone in the show. | |
