In 1977, I was in the same section of the required Voice for Performance class (Articulation and Speech Production/Command) with Gregg Edelman at Northwestern. He was a freshman Theatre major and I was a sophomore Interpretation (Performance Studies) major. While I didn't get to know him outside the class (where he was closest with his year cohort and fellow Theatre majors), it was clear even then that he hardly needed such a class--even at eighteen he had "that voice." It almost seemed eerie to hear it come out of that nice, well-mannered young man from Skokie! I remember he sang a number of leads there during our time, especially Fredrik in "A Little Night Music," which also had Suzie Plakson as Charlotte and a freshman from Oklahoma named Megan Mullaly as Petra (I think Cheryl Stern was also in it--could she have been Anne?)

All of which is to say that Gregg must be around 66 and has experience playing older than his actual age! (And I suddenly feel very old myself.)
