| It's a wonderful song which actually works dramatically because it contrasts the likeability and humanity of Herr Schultz with the brutality and nastiness of what happens later in the scene with Ernst and some of the others. I believe other fine singing actor/comedians can pull this song off. I once even saw it as part of a nightclub act, done out of context of the show. and many years later, still remember that the performer worked its charms well. I know quite a few other folks who are disappointed that this song has been cut out of the show. |
